Under 65 Health Insurance

Under 65 health insurance in North & South Carolina: ACA Marketplace plans, private coverage, Medical Expense Shield, and group health for individuals, families and the self employed.

If you’re under 65 and not on Medicare, you have more options than most people realize. Some are great. Some are traps. The right one depends on your income, your health, your doctors, and how long you need the coverage to last.

I’ll walk you through all of it — including the options that don’t pay me as well — because the goal is getting you covered properly, not moving a particular product.

Your Under 65 Health Insurance Options

Here are the main ways to get covered if you are under 65. Each one has its own page with the details.

ACA Marketplace Insurance

Marketplace plans are guaranteed-issue, with no health questions and no denials for pre-existing conditions. Depending on your income, a premium tax credit may lower your monthly cost, and I run your actual numbers. You can also browse plans at HealthCare.gov.

Short Term Medical Insurance

Private coverage that generally costs less than unsubsidized Marketplace coverage and often comes with a broader nationwide network. It is medically underwritten, so it is a poor fit with an ongoing chronic condition.

Medical Expense Shield

Short term medical bundled with a fixed-benefit plan from Allstate Health, so cash is paid to you from your first covered event. It uses the Aetna Open Choice PPO network, with Mayo Clinic in-network.

Group Health Insurance

Individuals and families can qualify for group health plans on the Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield nationwide networks.

Fixed Benefit Health Insurance

An added layer of coverage that pays a set dollar amount for each covered service and works alongside your main health plan.

Which Under 65 Health Insurance Option Fits You

If you are healthy and do not qualify for a large subsidy, short term medical or Medical Expense Shield is typically much cheaper than unsubsidized ACA coverage. If you qualify for a substantial subsidy, the ACA plan is often the better math. If you manage an ongoing health condition, an ACA plan with guaranteed-issue protection is almost always the better answer. Going without coverage is not an option I would recommend, and I will run your numbers side by side before you decide.

How to Get an Under 65 Health Insurance Quote

To give you accurate numbers, I need a bit more than just an age and zip code — household details, current coverage, health basics, and how you use care all shape the plan design and rate. The fastest way to get started is a quick phone call or text.

Head over to the Contact page for all the ways to reach me, or just call or text (910) 760-2124 directly. Either way, I’ll run the numbers next to whatever other options make sense for your situation, and you can decide from there. No pressure, no follow-up sales calls you didn’t ask for.
